The Bumtag Review

This day is bittersweet. The Fourth Annual Haensch family Pig Roast has come and gone, and while the glorious pork filled memories swim through my mind, I am continually aware of the fact that the next pig roast is never farther away than it is at this moment. I live for pig roast weekend.

So, as promised to all of the fine piglets in attendance, the board has spent the better half of Bumtag (that's the day between Saturday and Sunday..it makes Sunday squish partway into Monday...don't overthink it) reviewing our performance, and here it is. Who was hot, who was not, who were the big winners of the weekend, and of course, a full report from the sustainability committee

First of all, major props go out to Dan O., Dan M., and Cool James for chopping enough wood in their impromptu lumber mill on Friday to last us through the weekend! Don't tell any of the elder Haensches, but this may be the first time we've made it through pig roast without pilfering wood from the designated "indoor wood" stack. Again, I repeat, don't tell them-- this could jeopardize everything.

Second major props are extended to our musical guests John and Sarah for making beautiful music, and inspiring an epic hoe-down dance party that lasted through the afternoon.

We all ate way too much, beginning with Cam's amazing breakfast spread on Saturday morning. Bacon preserves! I mean, really! I don't think I can ever be satisfied topping a biscuit in anything else at this point.

While the lawn olympics were a big nicht nicht this year, there was a pretty fierce multi-family intergenerational beer pong competition. The big winners: Big James and Mama. Epic.

Our goal had been to pull this whole thing off with only one bag of trash, and I'm afraid we missed that mark...by a significant margin. We produced 6 bags of trash, and half a bag of recyclables. So, the board has decided that next year there is a mandatory tupperware bringing and leftovers hoarding policy in effect. You heard it here first.

And who was not hot? Nobody, silly. Everybody's a winner at pig roast! The board has spoken. Pictures to follow.
