At The Pub.

End math camp, begin travel. We arrived in beautiful Galway to our Airbnb rental. It's a sweet little cottage on the property of a delightful Irishman named Brian.

After a restful afternoon we hit the town for dinner and a few pints down at the pub. Brian had invited us down to have a drink with his friends, members of the local "hill walking" group -- a lively crew of retired gentlemen who take to the quays and moors of Galway for some weekly rambling.

It started out as the sort of night you would expect from a group of older men at the pub. Chatting, laughing, music, one man offered to buy us a drink, then another, then another. It seems the Irish tradition is that everyone takes a turn buying a round (standard practice in the US as well), except the round is purchased when the first person finishes their beer, not the last! So imagine, sometimes you're halfway through a beer, and a full one gets set down behind it. It's intimidating. We hung as long as we could, but suffice it to say, we are not nearly as seasoned as this crew. We arrived after them, and left before them. Kids. Novices.

Today we hit the Galway farmer's market to buy some supplies for dinner, and then took a trip out to the Cliffs of Moher.
