A Gnomage

We are winners. Through and through. This is why it's so upsetting that we keep losing the Burlington Mardi Gras costume contest. After last year's Mardi Gaga upset, we decided that the best way to secure our win was to dress up in an homage to the famous Alan Newman: fomer owner of Magic Hat Brewery, Costume Contest judge, and (obvious) king of the garden gnomes.

And so our gnomage was born. After some adept glue gunning and a few handfuls of well placed polyester stuffing, voila!

Don't you love the old-time whimsy of it?

The garden gnomes took on Burlington, where we were so beautifully captured by the photographer for the Burlington Free Press. And at Ri-ra we even ran into one of our own kind!

Unfortunately, it seems the gnome king has retired from the judging circuit, and this years MC was Miss Vermont. So we lost. Again. But after drowning our sorrows in a pint of Ben and Jerry's we reclaimed our winning spirit and can-do attitude! We happily pranced around town all day and got nothing but love from the city of Burlington. Thanks guys, we <3 you too.

  1. Whoa - go Burlington. Glad to see my hometown is still bringing it, or rather you're bringing it to Burlington. Way to go.
