Bike'n'Bite

Last summer I had the joy of accompanying my bicycle loving parents on the Rail Trail in Westchester, NY, and we were crossing over one particularly lovely bridge when we passed another older man cyclist with a beaming smile, and Mama said to me "You know, that's just how it is, bike riding is so fun you just can't help but have a smile on your face the whole time! It's like being a kid again!"

Amen to that, Mama. So this weekend I hoped on my sweet ride, and took to the streets and bike paths of Manhattan with my fabulous crew for a New York City biking and eating adventure!

It was like seeing Manhattan through a new pair of eyes. We rode down the West Side Highway, though Battery Park, up the East River, and through the Lower East Side, eating delicious foods all along the way! Starting with some outrageous rice balls from Faiccos on the corner of Cornelia and Bleeker. They were the perfect cheesy ricey goodness, with that fried shell that was beyond thin and yet so delectably crispy.

From here we headed to BaoHaus at 137 Rivington, where we indulged in some Taiwanese steamed buns stuffed with Hangar steak and delicious spices and nuts. Holy Crap. These were so good.

The buns were so soft, like clouds...I could go on all day...but let's just say, do yourself a favor, and go eat some Bao. From here we moved on to The Creperie, falafel from Taïm, pickles at Russ and Daughters, Macaroni and Cheese from S'mac and some crazy hot spiced lamb and noodle dish at Xi'an Famous Foods.

And then we all fell asleep leaning against a tree.

Weeelll, that might be a bit of a lie, but what a perfect day!
