Without getting too boring about it, my goal is to get comfortable running at a 9 min/mile pace and get my distance up. Long runs will be long and slow, with distance covered being the singular objective. The tempo run is going to be the run each week where I try to stay very mindful of speed, and get my body accustomed to running at a CONTROLLED pace (be it fast, slow, or in-between).
Yesterday's Workout: 5 miles in 47:00
In other news, at the behest of my extreme friend Merry, I've registered for the Colchester Half Marathon on February 26th. This is a good time in my training to attempt a half, and as Merry said to me the other day "Well, you would have been running 13 miles that day anyways." Well played, Merry. Well played. I can tell you what I would NOT have been doing that day:

This series of extreme elevation climbs. And these highlights of the race mentioned on the website:
- Lots of Hills
- No T-shirt
- No Awards
- More Hills
- Dirt Roads
- Cows and Donkeys
- And did we mention the hills?
- Sweep car - just in case someone needs a ride back, but if you hitch a ride you’ll be the last one back!
Of course I'm being very joking right now, because this race actually sounds really fun! While this is a good jumping off point for a philosophical discussion of different people's ideas of fun, let's just leave it with this fitting valediction:
Teacher's own.
