I pledged to NPR this morning! It really does give me that fresh laundry, full-tank-of-gas feeling. And it makes me feel soooo superior (oops, I probably shouldn't admit that openly).
If you've ever talked to me for more than 30 minutes, you probably have heard me say "the other day, on NPR, I heard..." I'm obsessed. But it's just so good! I think that my parents listened to it a lot when I was a kid, so the sound of NPR broadcasting is imprinted onto the pleasure centers of my brain. Also, it's just so informative and so good. Who doesn't want to learn about compost from John Dankosky, or get drunk on kitschy martinis with Faith Middleton?
When I think about my dream-team potluck guest list, not fewer than 5 NPR correspondents appear:
- Terry Gross- Worlds best question asker! So valuable.
- Peter Sagal- A top notch humorist, and dedicated (but good natured) marathon runner. Also, did you know that he co-wrote Dirty Dancing Havana Nights?
- Faith Middleton- She just seems like an absolute riot!
- Ira Glass- He is a powerful conversationalist, so good in fact, that I would give him a +1 to this dream potluck so that he can bring one of his This American Life team.
- Scott Simon- I think he would just have the absolute best stories to share. He'd be that guy.
