Keep Your Heart

If you ever ride a bike, you probably notice that if you see a rock in your path, and look at it, then somehow you can't help but hit it. Your body wants to steer the bike along the path of your gaze. So, the best way to stay on a certain course, is to focus on that course, unblinking, and steer with great intention.

I think this is an apt analogy for the ability to shift one's life by living with intention. Waking up each morning and being mindful of my energy, helps to steer my life in the proper direction.

The past few years I've been focusing on my third Chakra, the Solar Plexus Chakra. This Chakra, is associated with power, fear, anxiety, finding direction, and realizing goals. This has been important for me as I've been slogging through my thesis work, trying to overcome the feelings of anxiety and meekness that come with doing really hard things that I feel like I'm not very good at. It sounds silly, but I try to incorporate yellow into my wardrobe, not because yellow has mystical powers, but because it reminds me to focus my energies.

Having reached an even keel in my work, I think it's time I shifted my focus to the Heart Chakra. This Chakra is usually associate to love (of self, and of others), emotional well-being, compassion and relationships. I believe that loving oneself is probably the most important thing of all. Without that, nothing is possible. Once that is achieved, it's important to approach relationships with intention, because with intention comes compassion, love, tenderness, and all of those wonderful things. Of course I'm not just speaking to romantic relationships here. This is so true for any relationship. So, on that tip, green is going to be the color this season.

Namaste.
